Open editions have been all the rage lately and many artists have been experimenting with them, which I personally think is good a thing. But few have done it with clear intention and even fewer have done it with a long-term artistic vision. Mae is one of the few artists that are using open editions with intention and she has a year long release plan for her series. I think this type of thoughtfulness and letting the artistic vision lead what tools to use and not letting the tools lead the artistic vision will be a key to long-term success.

But again, experimentation is a good thing and an artistic vision can evolve from that experimentation, but Mae’s clear vision for “Postcards” does impress me.
