First congratulations to the winners of the first MONOLITH Gallery open call for unminted photography, which was done using the new Composer features on Joyn. You can read about the winners and open call in my Joyn Story and I’ve featured the winning pieces below.

Also several 1/1s and editions in this issue with a few coming in from the Montage SuperRare Space, which seems to be actively onboarding a lot of great artists.

A great selection of art to showcase today. I hope these bite-sized newsletters helps bring more visibility for more artists. I know it’s a tough time out there, but art does not care if it is bull or bear, so MONOLITH Alpha will be here sending out newsletters bull or bear.

Also I wanted to share that MONOLITH Gallery is a launch partner for Joyn’s new Composer feature. We are kicking off this partnership with an open call for unminted photography work. I will be selecting a group of winners (number is currently flexible, focused more on finding good homes for good work). Then I will feature the winning pieces using the "Story" feature. And finally artists can choose to be showcased in a curation using the "Showcase" feature.

Today’s issue really popped out at me, two images in particular. Both are “photographic” but one is photography and the other is AI. But which is which is not immediately apparent. You have to look closely to see which one is which, but in the end they are both great pieces and they are both just art.

Also included in this issue is a wonderful collection from TJ Thorne called “Stroll” and also I’ve added Mia Forrest’s newsletter to the link list at the end.

I can’t believe I’m now at issue #50 for MONOLITH Alpha. It has evolved from just featuring editions to now including 1/1s, collections, exhibitions and newsletters. This has been a way to bring more inclusivity into how MONOLITH brings visibility to artists. It has also been a way to help diversify how I connect with the community. But most of all, I hope that it has helped artists find their collectors.

It feels like things are picking up as we head into NFT NYC next week. We have a solid group of curations, 1/1s, and editions, but I want to point out a few pieces in today’s issue. They are all interactive NFTs, so the image below does not do it justice and you will need to click on the link to get the full experience of the pieces.

“Eye to the Sky” by @paulmp is a full 3D experience that you can pan around. You can control the light in “Luma Tide” by @Timmboslice_ by moving your mouse around the image. And “Seascapes 1.x” by @BKanizay is deceptively simple, but the entire piece is all done in code plus the piece is interactive. The landscape, moon, boats, and all the other elements morph into different scenes as you tap on it.

This is the first issue where I am featuring curations from Foundation Worlds and NiftyGateway Publishers. I’m always trying to keep my ear close to ground, listening to and observing what the community is talking about and feeling. I sensed that there might be a need to give some of these new curations more visibility and it seems like my hunch was correct given that I got a lot of submissions after my request for curations in a tweet I sent out yesterday.

Also as I noted in the last issue, I’ve started to include a “Newsletter Recommendations” section at the end of each issue. I’ll be rotating through the order so that a different newsletter is first in the list each week.

There are a lot of curations coming out this week (including some of my own through MONOLITH Gallery), so you will see several issues of MONOLITH Alpha in your inbox this week, all in the spirit of giving more visibility to more artists.

As we think about the future, I think it’s good for us to start diversifying the mediums we use to communicate and connect as a community.
